Students from BPL (below poverty line) families, who secured more than 500 marks in SSC examination and 850 plus in Intermediate are eligible for the scheme which was named `Prothsaham’. The Indian Red Cross Society which was appointed implementing agency has received 69 applications with six days remaining for the last date (May 31).
Arrangements are being made to conduct interview in the first week of June and disburse the financial assistance before June 30. The scheme has won Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s appreciation and it could be a role model for other districts.
