KATHMANDU: Communist Party of Nepal (Maoists) leader Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said the party hoped for a consensus for it to form the new government. After attending the party’s first meeting with its 220 Constituent Assembly (CA) members, Dr. Bhattarai said: “We are presenting a proposal on government formation tomorrow and are hopeful of achieving full consensus.” He also said the Maoists hoped to form a coalition government but added the party was reluctant to accept any conditions not listed in the peace accord signed two years ago. Nepal’s political parties had decided to amend the interim Constitution to replace the two-thirds negative vote to remove a Prime Minister with a simple parliamentary majority. The Maoists are against this move.
