L.R. Eswari GUNTUR: She may be on the other side of 60, but going by her verve and versatility, it seemed that 60 is the new 20. The huskiness in her voice has not waned a bit nor is the vitality missing in her personality. Music buffs in the city were treated to a memorable evening at the GMCANA auditorium in the Guntur Medical College at a musical programme organised by Dasari Cultural Academy. The illustrious play back singer was later felicitated with a silver crown, Rs.25, 000 in cash and a silk pair of dress. M.L.C Rayapati Srinivas, Cultural Academy president P. Ranga Rao, Bharati Sops proprietor Manikvel were present. The evening had everything, from foot-tapping belters to soul soothing melodies. The singer started off by crooning ‘Bale Magazine’ and went on to sing ‘Are Emote Loam’, ‘Palate Kamala Kant Malaya..’ The crowd went into raptures as Ms. Eswari belted out ‘Le Le... Na Raja,’ the popular racy number from the movie `Prem Nagar.’ Singer Bala Raju played the perfect second fiddle to the ace singer. Supporting singers Ramu and Jerena too kept the momentum alive by singing few songs including ‘Sandepoddulakada Sampagi Navvindi..’ A. Naga Raju, I. Rambabu, T.R. Eswari were also felicitated.
