Ramakrishnudu seeks cancellation of the land allotment Kakinada: The State government has given on lease 354 acres of land belonging to the Kakinada port in violation of guidelines to companies and individuals who are close to ministers and MLAs of the ruling party. Moreover, none of the 54 applicants to whom allotment was made, have either justified their requirement of land as meant for port-related activities or fully complied with the norms, alleges senior TDP leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu. G.O No. 8, dated March 3, 2008, permitted leasing out the land for 30 years on rent below the stipulated 6 per cent of the current market value, which entails a huge revenue loss for the port and State exchequer, according to him. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Ramakrishnudu said that the port lands were to be allotted on the condition that they would be used for port-related activities and if the applicants were companies they should submit balance sheets of last three years. There were other guidelines that govern the allotment of port lands but none of them was complied by the applicants. Mr. Ramakrishnudu demanded that the government should cancel the land allotment and strictly follow the relevant guidelines. As things stand now, companies/individuals were allotted land ranging from 2 to 57 acres. Telugu Desam district president N. Chinna Rajappa and former MLA V. Venkateswara Rao were present.
