Jhansi flays Opposition on varsity issue

Correspondent

VIZIANAGARAM: Lok Sabha member Botsa Jhansi Lakshmi has said that there is no truth in the Opposition parties’ propaganda that the central university proposed in Visakhapatnam is being shifted to Kadapa on the pretext of non-availability of land there.

At a press conference on Sunday evening, Ms. Jhansi criticised the opposition parties for raking up the non-existing issue to gain political mileage and said that the government had so far not issued an order in this regard. Suggesting the opposition parties to stop politicising the issue, she said that a representation appealing for the university in north coastal Andhra districts was submitted in the past to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Human Resources Development Minister Arjun Singh and Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

Accordingly, the Central government would act on her appeal, Ms. Jhansi said and added that if it were true that the proposed university being shifted to Kadapa the leaders in this part would not remain silent.
