We demand : Cadres of Pattali Makkal Katchi staging a protest in front of the Revenue Divisional Office in Krishangiri on Monday.

Krishnagiri: Cadres of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) staged a demonstration in front of the Revenue Divisional Office here on Monday urging the State government to reduce the fees in all private educational institutions including those allotted under management quota. They alleged that many private institutions were collecting huge amount as fees.

A large number of rural students were affected due to this.

They also wanted the government to direct the deemed universities to collect only the government-fixed fee for all the courses including medical and engineering courses.

The universities should also be directed to implement the reservation strictly. They urged the government to distribute the application forms for engineering courses free of cost to students belonging to most backward class and scheduled tribes.

The government should derecognise the private educational institutions, which lacked adequate infrastructure facilities including buildings, drinking water provisions, toilets and laboratories they claimed.

The government should make sure that all the seats reserved for students belonging to backward class, most backward class, scheduled caste/scheduled tribe and minorities were filled up in all the colleges properly. Efforts should be taken to prevent the private schools and aided institutions from collecting donation and exorbitant fees from the students. State Deputy General Secretary, PMK, Devarajan led the protest.
