Agitation for free house site pattas

STIR: Members of the DYFI staging a demonstration in Tuticorin on Monday.

TUTICORIN: Functionaries of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) staged a demonstration here on Monday seeking free house site pattas to those who were evicted during the removal of encroachment at Chidambara Nagar.

The protestors said the poor, who were evicted from their encroached upon land at Chidambara Nagar recently, should be given free house site pattas since they had settled there for more then four decades.

Since the eviction would badly hit them, the district administration should positively consider this plea, they said.

DYFI members and the evicted encroachers later submitted a petition to the Collector R. Palaniyandi.
