Arrangements in place for polling in Medak

Sangareddy: Preparations have been completed for polling in the three Assembly segments in Medak district going for elections on Thursday. In all, 536 polling booths and approximately 1,000 electronic voting machines would be used for these elections. Strapping of symbols to the EVMs has been completed and the distribution of these voting machines to the constituencies has begun. Training for the polling officers and assistant polling officers has been completed and the final phase of training was finished on Saturday, in which 1,100 polling officers participated.

Similarly, the district Collector Piyush Kumar chaired a training camp for 104 micro observers here on Sunday. These observers would discharge their duties in the areas designated as sensitive or problematic. According to Joint Collector Ramshankar Nayak, video cameras would be pressed into service to record the proceedings in these polling booths. Micro observers were asked to reach the booths by 6 a.m. and check the polling equipment.
