HYDERABAD: Exposing chinks in the security cordon thrown around the cricket stadium in Uppal where IPL matches are being played, four persons used identity cards of other persons and walked up to the boundary line on Sunday night. The intruders were watching the cricket match between Deccan Chargers and Royal Challengers from near the boundary line, when some security personnel noticed them. When told to leave the place immediately, they asserted they had every right to stay near the boundary line as they possessed identity cards. The securitymen found that the photos on the cards issued by Ksheera Sagara Caterers did not tally with their faces. They were instantly overpowered and taken into custody. The incident raised hackles of the security managers in view of the prevailing security scenario in the twin cities. The trespassers were aged between 22 and 35 and had walked through Gate III which is used by those who bought tickets worth Rs. 1,500 each. Police who grilled them for sometime were told that they had come only to watch the match and had no evil intentions. “We verified their antecedents. They had no criminal history,” said Uppal Sub-Inspector P. Srinivas. Nevertheless, the foursome were arrested under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 419 (impersonation) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code. The manager of the catering service Rashid Khan of New Bowenpally was also arrested on charges of facilitating their entry into the stadium. The trespassers were identified as Shaik Mohammed Sherforoz and Majid Khan, both residents of Moulali, Syed Basheer Ahmed of Sitaphalmandi and Saifuddin from Talabkatta. They have been remanded to judicial custody for two weeks.
