Special Correspondent

TAMBARAM: A 43-year-old woman was killed and her relative injured when a car hit them while they were crossing Grand Southern Trunk Road opposite Government Hospital for Thoracic Medicine in Tambaram Sanatorium on Sunday night.

The police said Manickam of Gummidipoondi was receiving treatment for an ailment at the GHTM.

His wife Rani and her sister-in-law Kanniamma were on their way to the hospital, taking dinner for him.

They were crossing the road when the vehicle (suspected to be a speeding car), whose model and registration number were not taken note of, hit the women.

Both of them were rushed to the Tambaram Taluk Government Hospital (Chromepet GH), where Rani died late in the night.
