Bid to loot bank in Guntakal

ANANTAPUR: An unsuccessful attempt was made to loot the Guntakal branch of Anantapur District Cooperative Central Bank (ADCCB) in the wee hours of Tuesday. Dacoits who gained entry into the bank fled when they heard the sound of a police patrolling vehicle coming that side. However, the police were not aware of the incident till the bank staff complained about the bid in the morning. The dacoits were also successful in breaking open the strong room doors but fled once they heard the siren of the police patrolling vehicle. There were about 53 lakhs cash.
