Campaign ends: The roadshow conducted by TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu in Chegunta village under the Ramayampet Assembly constituency in Medak district on Tuesday.

CHEGUNTA ( Medak dt): Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu rounded off his campaign for byelections here calling upon people to vote out the “betrayers”, Congress and Telangana Rashtra Samiti.

Addressing an impressive and responsive gathering, sixteen minutes before the campaign came to a close in this area which forms part of Ramayampet constituency, Mr. Naidu accused these parties with not only deceiving the people of the region by promising them Telangana but burdening the common man with price rise.

Every time he asked how many thought the Government was inefficient, corrupt, allowed cheap liquor to flow, failed to ensure proper supply of free power to farmers and check price rise, they repeatedly raised their hands in unison and even clapped, to support his contentions.

“All these would be set right when TDP returns to power,” he declared and repeated a long list of promises, from free houses, free LPG connection, loans at ten paisa interest rate to mangalsutra to newly wed couples.

He introduced the party candidate, M. Hanumantha Rao.

Clarifying the party’s stand, he said it was not against Telangana and whatever development had taken place was during its rule. Even now, contentious issues like construction of Babli project by Maharashtra and beedi were fought by TDP. He said his party would have nothing to do with BJP and vowed not to rest till justice was done to the poor.

In contrast to Karimnagar and Warangal, the Telangana sentiment at Ramayampet and adjoining Dommata seemed to be on a subdued note with a strong mood against the TRS candidates, who many voters said were seeing them after 2004 elections.

Staff Reporter from Medak adds: The road show of Mr. Naidu in Dommat and Ramayampet Assembly segments was a huge draw. He began his day from Thoguta of Dommat segment after a night’s stay. He offered prayers at the temple in the Madananda Peetham and addressed a public meeting in Thoguta which attracted large crowds.

No personal agenda

Striking an emotional chord, Mr. Naidu said that he has no personal agenda as his only son is well settled and he got all the time for the people of the State.

He also urged the devotees of Hanuman who are on a mandala Deeksha not to neglect elections.

“Jai Anjaneya. Please vote first on Thursday and then go for the rituals, this is also important.”
