Relief for constables in naxal-hit areas

Staff Reporter

KHAMMAM: Police constables who have been serving for more than two years in naxalite-affected areas of Khammam have been considered for posting in the plains.

Police sources made it clear on Tuesday that a month-long counselling exercise culminated in a large-scale reshuffle of constables. Some 400 constables were transferred and given fresh posting after consideration of their strengths and deficiencies.

The constables who had been working in the plain areas for more than four years were considered for their mandatory stint in the agencies.

The constables were asked to give their option well in advance.

Superintendent of Police D.S. Chouhan had a one-to-one interaction with constables due for shifting as part of the division-wise counselling exercise.

A scientific pattern was evolved with due access to the database and the recorded history of the personnel, including their rewards, area of expertise.
