Srikakulam: A batch of 11 members from self-help groups (SHG), selected from 11 districts in the State, will leave for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Tuesday, to participate in the 6th Global Indian Shopping Festival. The festival, in which a large number of countries are expected to participate, will commence on May 30 and conclude on June 8. It is being organised in collaboration with the Indian High Commission. Three Project Directors of the District Rural Development Agencies namely T. Baburao Naidu (Srikakulam), K. Ashok Reddy (Kadapa) and E.V. Narasimha Reddy (Mahabubnagar) will accompany the SHG members and monitor the tour. The group members are expected to return by June 10. According to Mr.Baburao Naidu the tour was meant to expose members of the SHG to the global market. He said that the tour would provide SHG members tremendous scope to understand various aspects of the global market where their products would have to compete. The SHG members will get a chance to interact with traders and business leaders of various countries. They will also be able to sell their products in the festival, Mr.Naidu added.
