Dindigul in last eight

KAYALPATNAM: Dindigul entered the quarterfinals of the 17th Tamil Nadu State youth football championship with a 5-3 win, via tie-breaker, after the teams were level 1-1 at the end of regulation time at the Kayal Sporting Club ground here on Tuesday.

Satheesh Kumar put Dindigul in front in the 29th minute, while Rajkumar equalised for Kanyakumari in the 37th minute.

In the tie-breaker, Karthick, Sheik Mohideen, Reguram and Rajalingam scored for Dindigul. Ferolkhan and Amudhan converted for Kanyakumari.

Other results: Tirunelveli 2 (Sheik Mohideen 2) bt Kancheepuram 1 (Saravanan); Cuddalore 1 (Kirubanandam) bt Salem 0.

Syed Ammal posts win

Syed Ammal Engineering College defeat Periapatnam Cricket Club by 21 runs in the Nayagan Trophy State-level Twenty20 tournament, organised by Rainbow Cricket Club, at Ramanathapuram on Tuesday.

The scores: Syed Ammal Engg. College 140 for seven in 20 overs (Silambarasan 62) bt Periapatnam CC 119 in 19.2 overs (Karai Ameen 36, Selvaraj four for 16).

Ariyangundu CC 76 in 18.3 overs (Nambu 36, Dharmendra Prakash three for four) lost to Nayagan CC 79 for no loss in 8.4 overs (Saran Jeyakumar 48, Mohan 27).

Udhman scalps five

Udhman Ali’s five for 16 helped Majestic Cups CC carve out a 32-run victory over Richards CC in the Canara Bank-Madurai District Cricket Association first division ‘B’ zone league at Madurai recently.

The scores: First division: ‘B’ zone: Mejestic Cups CC 144 in 30.3 overs bt Richards CC 112 in 29.4 overs (Udhman Ali five for 16).

Majestic Cups CC 224 in 46 overs (Priyesh 50, Udhman Ali 40) bt Eleven Bullets CC 185 in 38.5 overs (Saravanraj 50, Saravanan 40).

Second division: P.S. Oliva 112 in 19.3 overs (Mani 40) lost to Majestic Toddlers CC 114 for seven in 14.2 overs (Anand 40, Mani four for 30).

Fanatic CC 138 for seven in 30 overs (Siva 46) lost to Modern Golden Star CC 139 for two in 18.1 overs (Anbu 59 n.o., Vetri 41 n.o.).
