Khanna impresses

NEW DELHI: Sprinter Amit Khanna, staging a comeback, clocked an impressive 10.4 seconds to win the 100 metres in the trials to pick the Delhi State team for the all-India inter-State athletics championships (to be held in Madurai from June 15 to 18) at the Nehru Stadium here on Monday.

The team: Men: Amit Khanna (100m, 200m), Sandeep Sarkaria (100m), Nitin Kumar (200m, 400m), Gaurav Tyagi (200m), Prakash Verma (800m), Nirvir Singh (800m), Ravinder (1500m), Rajesh (high jump), Vijender (pole vault), Rajeev Kumar and Sunil Kumar (long jump), R. Vinoth Kumar (triple jump), Mukesh Singh (shot put), Punit Vij, Sandeep Dagar and Praveen Sharma (discus), Hanuman Singh (javelin) and Naveen (decathlon).

Women: Poonam Tomar (100m, 200m), Sushma (800m), Sunita (400m, 800m), Pooja Jakhar (400m, 400m hurdles), Geeta (3000m steeplechase), Marian C. Tharian (high jump), Priyanka Bhanot (discus), Vipin Kumari and Sushila (hammer) and K.J. Sandhya (20km walk).
