Vikram Sarabhai award for varsity professor

PUDUCHERRY: Director of Culture and Cultural Relations of Pondicherry University A. Balasubramanian has been awarded the Vikram Sarabhai Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution in the area of educational communication.

The university in a release said a high level committee had recommended this award for his contributions in information science and technology, digital multimedia applications in educational communications, television production on science and technology, capacity building on educational technology, consultancy to UNESCO, e-learning and e-governance.

Mr. Balasubramanian would receive the award from Union Minister for Human Resource Development Arjun Singh in New Delhi next week. Earlier, he had worked at the University of Mysore as Director, Centre for Information Science and Technology and Director of Educational Multimedia Research Centre. He had produced 200 documentaries for television in the last eight years.
