Jawan commits suicide

Jammu: A jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in an army camp in Rajouri district on Wednesday.

Sepoy Sapnil Wadnay of Maharashtra, who was on guard duty at the camp in Rajouri, fired at himself around 6-50 a.m., defence sources said.

After hearing the gun shots, other troops and officers rushed to the spot and took him to the army hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Army has instituted a court of inquiry into the incident and police have registered a case, they said.
