Four get 12 years’ RI

Kota: Four persons, including two constables, were sentenced to 12 years’ rigorous imprisonment on the charges of drug peddling in the district, officials said today.

Additional District Judge V.K. Goswami sentenced Kamlesh Sahu and Rewati Prasad, both constables with the Government Railway Police and two others to 12 years’ rigorous imprisonment for possessing 5,300 kg of opium, they said.

They were arrested in 2005 from Kota railway station for carrying 5,300 kg of opium.

A fine of Rs.1 lakh each has been imposed on them.
