Issue of low English marks secured by some students in Class XII examination Students not hopeful as there is no provision for re-evaluation, only re-totalling, under the CBSE
NEW DELHI: The principals of some Delhi schools called on Central Board of Secondary Education chairman Ashok Ganguly on Tuesday to discuss the issue of low English marks secured by some students of their institutions in this year’s Class XII examination. The chairman reportedly assured the delegation that he would look into the matter. “He felt concerned for the students and said he would examine the issue,” said Suraj Prakash, Principal of CRPF Public School at Rohini.
Jyoti Bose, Principal of Springdales School at Dhaula Kuan, who was also a member of the delegation, said: “Mr. Ganguly said he was investigating the matter by personally going through the English answer scripts. He had taken cognisance of the individual cases presented to him.” However, the students did not seem very hopeful as there is no provision for re-evaluation of answer-sheets under the CBSE.
“There is only a procedure for re-totalling if any answer has been left unmarked or marks were wrongly totalled or the wrong set of questions was answered. Mr. Ganguly said there was little he could do once the examiner had corrected the papers,” said Ms. Bose.
