JAGGAYYAPETA (Krishna district): Away from the political hustle-bustle of the State Capital, Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday celebrated the 86th birth anniversary of party founder late N.T. Rama Rao here by participating in several party programmes, including inauguration of a website each on NTR and the party. Mr. Naidu, who reached here on Tuesday night after a gruelling election campaign in Telangana, unveiled a statue of NTR at Jayantipuram Thanda, a tribal hamlet near here, and inaugurated a mega health camp organised. Addressing an impressive meeting at the municipal office centre, Mr. Naidu said when the party had decided to postpone Mahanadu, the three-day party conclave organised every year on the occasion of NTR’s birth anniversary in view of the by-elections in Telangana, there was a discussion as to where the birth anniversary should be celebrated. Krishna district had become a natural choice, as NTR hailed from this district. The TDP chief said there was perhaps no Chief Minister in the country who had served for nine long years and undertaken a 150-day campaign to reach out to people. “My ‘Meekosam’ yatra is to change the course of politics in this country,” he claimed. After completing all the programmes before 2 p.m., Mr. Naidu retired to his camp in Chillakallu for a quick stock-taking of the party’s position for Thursday’s by-elections.
