BANGALORE: Kannada Geleyara Balaga has urged the Recruitment Committee, Central Excise and Customs Department, to recruit local people for 46 posts of group D employees in the department.

Balaga president Ra. Nam. Chandrashekar told presspersons that the Excise Department had started the recruitment process for 46 group D posts in the department.

In response to the advertisement, the department received over 7,500 applications, including 4,500 from candidates living in other States for the post.

And local employment exchange had forwarded applications of 480 candidates. But 60 temporary workers from Karnataka had been working for over 12 years in these posts.

He said that outsiders would be chosen for these posts as a majority of the members of the Recruitment Committee were from other States and warned that pro-Kannada organisations would force the issue.
