Jaipur discom in BIS panels

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has given representation to Jaipur Vidyut Vitaran Nigam in its technical committees on transformers, cables, meters and installation after a gap of 20 years. Jaipur discom’s Executive Engineer Arjun Singh has been appointed a member of these committees.

The technical committees of the national standards body look after the quality certification and development of technical standards for electrical goods and equipment used in various State Electricity Boards and corporations.

The Chairman and Managing Director of the public sector Jaipur discom, R.G. Gupta, said here on Tuesday that the company was constantly upgrading the standards of tools, apparatus and machinery purchased for its projects. The high quality of the goods is ensured by conducting rigorous tests in a laboratory established by the discom. Mr. Gupta said the BIS had given representation to Jaipur discom after a gap of 20 years in view of the improving standard of its equipment.
