Hooda for quick solution of land acquisition cases

Special Correspondent

“Pending cases can be dealt with by Lok Adalats”

“Mewat mobile court a first in the world”

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on the advice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Vijender Jain has directed the State Advocate-General to find a mechanism to quickly deal with about 25,000 pending cases related to acquisition of land so that relief could be given to the farmers.

Inaugurating a newly-constructed office building of the Advocate-General of Haryana on the Punjab and Haryana High Court premises here on Wednesday,

Mr. Hooda said that these cases which had been pending in various courts of Haryana since 1985-86 could be dealt with by organising Lok Adalats.

He said his regime had given a special thrust to providing a better infrastructure at the district and sub-divisional levels.

Out of 21 districts, district courts had been set up in 18 districts whereas out of 48 sub-divisions, judicial complexes had already been set up in 25 sub-divisions and in 11 sub-divisions judicial complexes were under construction.

Claiming that the mobile court set up in Mewat area was the first such court in the world, Mr. Hooda said the people of Mewat were getting prompt justice at their doorsteps now.

Mr. Justice Vijender Jain described the judiciary as the soul of the judicial system. He said the Haryana Government had provided better infrastructure at the district as well as sub-division level and now there was no paucity of judicial officers.
