No to irregularities: Members of Tamil Nadu Primary School Teachers’ Association observing a fast in Tuticorin on Wednesday.
TUTICORIN: Members of Tamil Nadu Primary School Teachers’ Association began an indefinite fast in front of the Collectorate here on Wednesday pressing various demands.
The protesting teachers said the withheld salary for the months of June, July and August 2003 should be disbursed immediately and the bonus for 2006 – 2007 given without further delay. Annual increments should be given on a particular date.
The 60 per cent pay commission arrears should be released immediately. “Irregularities” in the teachers’ transfer counselling should be weeded out.
State general secretary of the association S. Abdul Majid, honorary president S. Ebenezer, office-bearers of the association participated in the protest.
