Loan waiver

It is heartening to note that the Finance Minister is making amends to the loan waiver scheme to accommodate more farmers into the beneficiary bracket. But looking at the enormity of the work involved one wonders how quick the benefits will reach the farmers.

Already, the issues of farmers and food crisis have been losing prominence — The Hindu, of course, being an exception — in the media.
