“Assigned police team will interrogate Talwar”

Special Correspondent

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh police have ruled out the possibility of the Noida double murder case accused, Rajesh Talwar, being interrogated in the presence of his lawyer. The dentist is on police remand for three days.

ADG, Law and Order and STF, Brij Lal told journalists here on Wednesday that the accused would be interrogated only by the police team assigned for the task.

Mr. Lal said the court had fixed four conditions for the police remand period. The first is that the remand would begin from 7 p.m. on May 27 and continue till 7 p.m. on May 30. The second related to Dr. Talwar’s medical examination before and after the police remand. The court had also prohibited the use of physical torture by the police for seeking a confession from the accused.

The fourth and vital condition pertains to the recovery of the weapons used to kill Aarushi Talwar and her domestic help, Hemraj, on May 15 in the Sector 25, Noida, residence of the Talwars.

One of the main reasons for securing police remand is to locate the murder weapon. However, the court has directed that if any recovery was made by the police it would be in the presence of an independent witness, the police official added.
