Rupee recovers 23 paise

MUMBAI: The Indian rupee recovered 23 paise at 42.73/74 against the U.S. dollar on Wednesday, cutting short a two-day falling string as demand for the greenback petered out amid easing oil prices.

At the interbank foreign exchange market, the domestic currency resumed firm at 42.87/88 against its last close of 42.96/97 and gradually moved upwards on exporters’ dollar sales and petering out demand. Meanwhile, global crude oil prices were trading around $129 a barrel in Asian trade after hitting a record high of $135-level — PTI
