Bangalore: India’s pace spearhead Zaheer Khan’s gradual comeback to the National squad seems to have hit a temporary roadblock. According to highly placed sources in the Indian team think-tank, Zaheer has virtually ruled himself out of the forthcoming tri-series in Bangladesh from June 8. An ankle injury had forced the left-arm seamer to skip three Tests in Australia and also the home series against South Africa. But he had bowled with zest for Bangalore Royal Challengers in the DLF IPL, claiming 13 wickets from 11 matches before a recurrence of the injury made him skip the matches against Chennai Super Kings and Deccan Chargers. He had also opted out of Wednesday’s match against Mumbai Indians. The Indian team for the tri-series will be picked at Mumbai on Friday and it is reliably learnt that Zaheer is looking at making a comeback in the Asia Cup in Pakistan from June 24. — Principal Correspondent
