BHILWARA: Tamil Nadu girls paced up nicely in the qualifying league for the tough challenge ahead in the quarterfinals against Chhattisgarh in the 59th National junior basketball championship here on Wednesday. Tamil Nadu girls outplayed both West Bengal and Orissa to earn the right to meet Chhattisgarh that qualified in style by topping Group ‘A.’ In the other quarterfinals in the girls’ section, Punjab will meet Maharashtra, Delhi will clash with Madhya Pradesh and Kerala will be challenged by Uttar Pradesh. In the boys’ section, TN lost to Punjab in the league to finish third in its group. The results: Boys: Madhya Pradesh bt Chandigarh 60-28; Haryana bt Gujarat 67-65; Punjab bt Tamil Nadu 74-60; Chhattisgarh bt Kerala 55-17; Uttar Pradesh bt Maharashtra 77-54; Haryana bt Orissa 75-39; Jharkhand bt West Bengal 44-41; Delhi bt Rajasthan 82-63; Madhya Pradesh bt Karnataka 59-36. Girls: Uttar Pradesh bt Haryana 89-67; Tamil Nadu bt West Bengal 55-35; Orissa bt Himachal Pradesh 30-15; Tamil Nadu bt Orissa 62-49; Haryana bt Uttarakhand 36-16; West Bengal bt Rajasthan 54-28; Chhattisgarh bt Karnataka 87-46; Maharashtra bt Madhya Pradesh 68-45.
