VCA in trouble

HUBLI: Vijay Cricket Academy (VCA), Belgaum, was trailing by 305 runs against Vasant Murdeshwar Cricket Academy (VMCA), Dharwad, at the end of the first day’s play in the two-day final of the SAVSOL Cup under-16 cricket tournament at the Karnataka Gymkhana ground here on Wednesday.

Opting to bat first VMCA piled up 404 for the loss of nine wickets in the first innings. In reply, VCA was struggling at 99 for four at stumps.

The scores: VMCA (Dharwad) 404 for nine in 75 overs (Samarth Ooty 63, Shashank Hulmani 57, Rahul Chauhan 52, Shreyas Murdeshawar 51) vs. VCA (Belgaum) 99 for four in 24 overs (Sumant Welling 40 n.o). — Staff Correspondent
