Six new marks on opening day

BANGALORE: Six new marks were set on the opening day of the State junior and sub-junior swimming championship which got underway at the BAC pool here on Wednesday.

In the boys group I section, P. Gagan established a new record in Group I boys 1,500m freestyle clocking 16:51.05s thus bettering Rohit Hawladar’s 2006 mark of 17:02.03.

The other record makers were Aditya Roshan in 100m breast stroke ( 1:10.33), Ashwin Menon in 200m freestyle (2:02.24s), Akash Rohit in Group II boys 100m breast stroke (1:11.47s), Sushaka Pratap in Group I girls 1,500m freestyle (18:54.64s) and Sreelakshmi Gorur in Group II girls 800 m freestyle (9:55.51s).
