Seven-member jury to finalise film awards

BHUBANESWAR: The Government has constituted a seven-member jury to finalise the State film awards for 2007.

Sources in the Department of Culture said former Director-General of Police Amiya Bhusan Tripathy would be chairperson of the committee.

Tripathy, formerly with the National Human Rights Commission, was in the limelight for teaming up with celebrated filmmaker Goutam Ghose to make a non-feature film on Kalahandi that was screened in International Film festival of India in 2002.

The other members are film music composer and singer Prafulla Kar, actress Tripura Mishra, film directors Himansu Khatua (of Sunya Swarupa and Kathantara fame) and Subas Das (award winning film Aw Akare Aa ), film journalist Radhanath Mohapatra and Itirani Samanta, editor of Oriya magazine Kadambinee.

The jury would watch 12 feature films and two non-features.
