Agitated personnel in Boath Assembly constituency threaten to boycott duties
|
ADILABAD: Inadequate drinking water, food and transport arrangements caused resentment among polling personnel at different distribution centres of Adilabad Lok Sabha constituency. On Wednesday the staff for Boath Assembly constituency, stationed at the distribution centre even threatened to boycott election duties unless they were provided with food and water.
Joint Collector G. Ravi Babu rushed to Boath Junior College, the distribution centre and got food to be cooked.
Slow movement
The problem started on Tuesday itself at the distribution centre at Adilabad. Lunch was provided for the assembled polling staff at 5 p.m. The movement of personnel towards respective station was also slack. Personnel should have reached their stations by afternoon on Wednesday. However, at Adilabad, Asifabad and Boath there was a delay.
Swamy Reddy, district president of the United Teachers’ Federation said the delay is bound to cause further problems to the polling staff while they make the booths ready. “In case the personnel reach the centres even as late as Wednesday afternoon it would be possible to find the village revenue staff for getting the booths ready,” he pointed out.
