25 candidates in fray in Jadcherla

MAHABUBNAGAR: Over 1.80 lakh electorate will decide the fate of candidates contesting from Jadcherla, the lone Assembly constituency in the district going to the polls on Thursday.

There are 25 candidates including Congress nominee Mallu Ravi, Telugu Desam Party candidate M. Chandrashekar alias Yerra Shekar and TRS candidate C. Laxma Reddy besides 13 victims of Polepally SEZ, contesting as independents are in the fray.

District Collector and district election authority V. Usharani has said that all arrangements for the byelection were completed and 190 polling stations were set up. Some 1,066 personnel drawn from various departments were drafted for the election duty.

She said that shoot at sight orders were issued to the police personnel against miscreants indulging in snatching EVMs. Heavy bandobust arrangements have been made for fair and smooth conduct of polling, according to Superintendent of Police Shashidhar Reddy.
