Accused used to dispose of stolen vehicles in Nepal: Police
|
NEW DELHI: Three persons who allegedly stole vehicles and disposed of them in Nepal have been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police. The police claim to have recovered 10 stolen vehicles at their instance.
Acting on a tip-off that an auto-lifter would pass by Rohini Jail on a stolen motorcycle, a Crime Branch team under the supervision of Sanjay Bhatia laid a trap and arrested him along with his accomplice on May 15. They were identified as Charanjeet Singh and Jogender Singh.
During interrogation, the accused purportedly confessed to having stolen over 100 vehicles and that they worked for Dalbir Singh, a resident of Nainital in Uttarakhand. Subsequently the police arrested Dalbir and claimed to have recovered six cars and four motorcycles from the accused.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Anil Shukla, the accused used to dispose of stolen vehicles in Nepal through a conduit named Nagpal Joshi. Their accomplices who operate in Nepal have been identified by the police as Kishan, Bhoprai, Lokender, Shyam and Shah.
