NEW DELHI: A 32-year-old man has been arrested in New Usmanpur here for allegedly impersonating as a traffic policeman and extorting money from a Blueline bus driver.
According to the police, Subhash Chand of Ghaziabad flagged down the bus at Shastri park traffic intersection on Tuesday evening and sought Rs.500 from the bus driver. Subhash allegedly threatened to suspend the bus permit if the money was not paid. When the driver asked him to show his identity card, Subhash tried to flee. However, he was arrested by a police patrolling team.
Subhash earlier worked as a private security guard.
