Dismissed SI held for auto theft

NEW DELHI: A dismissed Jammu and Kashmir Police sub-inspector and his three accomplices have been arrested for alleged involvement in several cases of auto theft.

A police team carrying out a routine vehicle check in Kalkaji arrested Nanak Singh of Uttam Nagar on May 18 evening on charges of stealing cars. At his instance, the police later arrested Ikram, Amit and Deepak for allegedly receiving stolen cars and selling them to unsuspecting buyers.

Nanak Singh was earlier arrested in an auto theft case in 2003.

Deepak was dismissed from the J&K Police after his education certificates were found to be fake, the police said.
