Artillery Centre, SCR match drawn

HYDERABAD: South Central Railway and Artillery Centre were locked in a 1-1 draw in the ‘A’ 1 division super league hockey championship at the Begumpet Police Stadium, here on Wednesday.

The teams were locked goalless at the break.

In the second session, Artillery took the lead in the 37th minute through centre-forward Osman bin Abdullah. However, SCR equalised just before close through James.

In the ‘B’ division league at the AOC grounds, Gun Bazaar defeated BHEL (R&D) 5-3 with Md. Aziz, Md. Ishaq and Saleem scoring one each and Zaheer netting a brace for the winner. Habeeb Osman, Janak Kumar and B.K. Pant scored for the loser.

In another match, Lucky Club put it across BHEL (Ramachandrapuram) 2-1 with Md. Imran Khan and Md. Ilyas Khan scoring for the winner, while Ravinder reduced the margin.

Kannan XI wins

D. Kannan XI defeated Moinuddin XI 4-0 in the Talent Hunt football tournament (under-15), organised by the District Sports Authority of Hyderabad, with Albert striking twice in the 15th and 54th minutes and Sudhir scoring another brace in the 46th and 49th minutes.

Bashrat of Moin XI was shown yellow card for unsporting behaviour, while Christopher of Kannan XI was given similar punishment for tripping a rival defender inside the penalty area in the 59th minute which saw Moin XI get a penalty-kick which was subsequently missed by Cleyton.

The final will be played on May 30 between Azizuddin XI and Yousuf Khan XI.
