Chennai: R. Chandrashekar’s unbeaten 89-ball 103 took Kattankulathur CC to an eight-wicket win over TFUCC in the 39th all-India ICICI YSCA Trophy cricket tournament. In another match, Guna’s five for 30 helped Isoft defeat Southern Auto Centre by 72 runs. The scores: TFUCC 126 in 24.4 overs (Vaidyanathan four for 34) lost to Kattankulathur CC 130 for two in 26.2 overs (R. Chandrashekar 103 n.o.); Comrades CC 122 in 28.2 overs (S. Santhosh four for 18) lost to Pachiappa’s College 123 for two in 21.2 overs (C. Manikandan 52); Sutherland Global Services 225 for nine in 30 overs (Venkat 57, Shankar 64, Samuel David three for 46, Tamilarasan four for 50) bt Komaleeswar CC 114 for nine in 30 overs (Kannan 44 n.o., Krishnan three for 24); Isoft 213 in 30 overs (Subramaniam 63, Parthiban four for 34) bt Southern Auto Centre 141 in 21.4 overs (Guna five for 30); Youngsters 148 for eight in 30 overs (Srivatsan four for 23) bt Brindavan CC 144 in 29.5 overs (Balaji 69, A. Anand three for 20). Tributes to MenonRich tributes were paid to the services rendered towards promotion of sports by Govinda Menon, vice-President of CDCA and Secretary of the Olympic Recreation Club, at a condolence meeting organised by the club. A host of speakers, including D.V. Sundar (table tennis), Manuel Aaron (chess), B. Ravikumar David (football) and S. Anandan (carrom), recalled Menon’s support for indoor sports. Races for newcomersThe Madras Motor Sports Club will hold races for newcomers (two wheelers and four wheelers) on May 30 and June 1. The races will be held at the MMSC Track in Irungattukottai.
