PUDUCHERRY: Aiming to standardise yoga education and therapy, twelve yogis of different yogic traditions from across the country have come together to form a self-regulatory body called Indian Yoga Association, according to a release issued by the outfit. The association aims at standardising yoga education and therapy extended by various institutes in the country with support from the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Two yogis from the Union Territory, Director of International Centre for Yoga Education and Research Yogacharini Meenakshi Devi Bhavanani and Shradalu Ranade representing the Aurobindo tradition, are among the founding members of the association. The forum would function as an accreditation body and frame common syllabus for various educational programmes in yoga offered by institutions. It would also evolve modules for teaching and treatment. Apart from these, it would set standards for yoga therapists and members of yoga teaching fraternity, the release added.
