National prize: Rajesh Kumar, an eighth semester MSc Photonics student at Cochin University of Science and Technology, has won the national research prize at the first national student research convention held at Pune University from May 17 to 19.

He received the award for his work in the area of ‘fibre optics and its applications’. Mr. Kumar received a purse of Rs.50,000, citation and memento.

He is also a recipient of an international research fellowship sponsored by the Society of Photonics Industry and Education.
