THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police on Thursday raided a residence in Kattakada in connection with the attack on the house of Fast Track Court-I Judge S. Soman at Vayilikada on Tuesday. Circle Inspector K.E. Baiju said the investigators were looking for a person linked with certain suspects the judge had convicted recently in a sensational murder-for-gain case. Mr. Soman’s crucial intervention as Thiruvananthapuram Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in several cases, including those relating to exploitation of women and children, had created many enemies for him. As CJM, Mr. Soman had exposed instances of brutal treatment of children housed at the government-run Juvenile Home. Mr. Soman’s surprise inspection had resulted in the suspension of several officials. He had ordered an investigation into the allegation that certain officials at the Chief Chemical Examiner’s laboratory had tampered with the forensic chemical examination relating to the unnatural death of Sister Abhaya, a nun attached to monastery in Kottayam district. The police questioned 14 persons in connection with the case.
