ADILABAD: On a day when the temperature remained below the prevailing normal of 42 degree Celsius, moderate polling was recorded across the seven Assembly segments in Adilabad Lok Sabha constituency. Voter enthusiasm was seen only in Khanapur (ST) Assembly segment where women formed queues since the start of polling. Polling was very poor in the early hours, especially in urban centres that recorded poor percentage of voting and the trend continued throughout the day. In the slum areas of Adilabad town and some other rural centres, however, brisk polling was recorded right from morning. Though voters remained tight-lipped on their preference, the Lok Sabha seat is set to witness an interesting contest with the Telugu Desam vying to make a comeback and the Congress putting up equally tough fight. Minor skirmishes Polling was incident free but for minor skirmishes between workers of different political parties and other election offences like distribution of poll chits. Police registered seven cases and arrested four persons in poll-related violence and other offences. Mild scuffles between TDP workers and TRS rebel MLA Narayan Rao Patel’s supporters were seen at Puspur under Mudhole segment. At some polling centres like Ichoda, polling had to be suspended for about 30 minutes for replacement of faulty EVMs.
