HC-appointed expert panel visits Orathapalayam Dam

ERODE: The Madras High Court-appointed expert committee guiding the Court in the River Noyyal pollution case visited Orathapalayam Dam on Thursday.
Led by retired Engineer in Chief, PWD S. Sivaraman, the team of four, visited the Dam at farmers’ request.
The farmers, engaged in cleaning the river’s upstream, sought the committee’s guidance.
A committee member said the farmers engaged in cleaning 16 km upstream, were not in the know of the area to be cleaned.
To help the farmers, the committee with the help of officials from Revenue Department, PWD and others suggested demarcating the area to be cleaned.
The farmers, as per an earlier Court order, cleaned the river downstream for more than 50 km.
