To assemble safety system parts for car manufacturers

NEEMRANA (RAJASTHAN): Toyoda Gosei India Pvt. Ltd. (TGIPL) has announced setting up of a new subsidiary to assemble safety system parts such as steering wheels and airbag modules for car manufacturers with support from Rajasthan State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation (RIICO) here.

The ground-breaking ceremony of the new unit was performed in the presence of the Ambassador of Japan, Hideaki Domichi. TGIPL aims to start production in less than a year on the 80,000 square metres land allocated to it by RIICO after an investment of Rs.45 crore. “Our decision to invest in Rajasthan is a strategic one to tap all the automobile manufacturers in North India. Neemrana offers proximity to the entire northern region, access to road network, electricity and manpower. We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with RIICO,” said T. Matsuura, president, Toyoda Gosei Co. Ltd., Japan. Toyoda Gosei initiated its LED (Light emitting diode) research in 1986 and in 1991 developed the world’s first blue LEDs based on gallium nitride. It also holds the patent in the solid-state lighting industry. To meet the growing need for environment-friendly light sources, the company continues to develop LEDs for application in cellular phones, full colour displays, traffic signals, automobiles and general lighting. Headquartered in Aichi, Japan, Toyoda Gosei, has 45 manufacturing facilities in 16 countries.

Last year, in an MoU signed with JETRO (Japanese External Trade Organisation), RIICO committed to reserve an industrial park for Japanese investments, mostly for medium auto component sector, in Neemrana to enhance Japanese investments.
