LUCKNOW: With the police remand of Rajesh Talwar, the main accused in the Noida double murder case due to expire on Friday, the Uttar Pradesh police on Thursday moved an application in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Gautam Buddha Nagar for conducting a narco-analysis test on Dr. Talwar.

The police plea will come up for hearing on June 2. The court directed that a copy of the application be provided to counsel for the accused.

Police claimed that ‘evidence’ gathered during the ongoing investigation made the test necessary. The Assistant Director General, Law and Order and Special Task Force, Brij Lal, said here that the result would help investigators corroborate the evidence gathered.

Earlier on Thursday, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mayawati, said at a press conference that the police had gathered evidence of a “very important and serious nature.”

While the Uttar Pradesh police official refused to divulge details, Mr. Lal told newsmen that the police had gathered printouts from the deceased, Aarushi Talwar’s computer and call details of the telephone and cell phone. These were submitted in the CJM court. Among the police findings was an e-mail purportedly sent by the schoolgirl. Mr. Lal refused to divulge the name of the person to whom the e-mail was sent. He said the police were trying to restore the Orkut image of a boy, purportedly removed by him a day before Aarushi’s murder. Police claimed that the boy was in touch with the girl. He said the domestic servant, Hemraj, had not offered any resistance when he was attacked. State Home Secretary Mahesh Gupta said the police would continue investigation till the case was taken up by the CBI.
