‘India to gain from mergers and acquisitions’
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: India stands to gain from mergers and acquisitions as a strategic tool to enhance the value of its businesses, according to Narender V. Rao, Director, Graduate Programmes in Business, Northeastern Illinois University.
Delivering a lecture on “Mergers and acquisitions” at the Institute of Public Enterprise here on Thursday, Dr. Rao said value creation was the key to this phenomenon.
At the same time, he said that in more than 50 per cent of cases, they did not add any value and that over valuation was one of the strategic reasons for the failure of mergers.
R. K. Mishra, Director of IPE, who chaired the lecture, asked the public sector enterprises to add value by going beyond Indian shores.
