Snag in EVMs delays polling in many booths
Staff Reporter
NIZAMABAD: Polling was delayed in several booths due to a technical snag in electronic voting machines (EVMs) in the first hour of polling, coupled with lack of awareness among voters on how to cast votes using the EVMs in Dichpally and Yellareddy Assembly constituencies.
According to presiding officers at Dharpally mandal headquarters, Manik Bhandar and Banapur of Lingampet mandal, voters were confused while exercising their franchise. At Manik Bhandar, an EVM failed after 120 votes were polled.
At Ramadugu, polling was extended by two more hours beyond 5 p.m. as more than 300 voters were waiting outside a polling station to vote.
