GULBARGA: Mathematics is a child’s play for the two whiz kids Sharath Ibrahimpur and Kiran C. Yelasangi. They have come out with flying colours in all the competitive examinations and have set their eyes on the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) for pursuing their goal to become technocrats in the field of electronics. Both Sharath Ibrahimpur and Kiran C. Yelsangi are students of Sharanabasaveshwar Residential Public School here. The youngsters had joined the school in LKG and completed the PUC with flying colours. Sharath Ibrahimpur originally hailing from a tiny village Ibrahimpur in Shahapur in Gulbarga district, has secured third rank in the Common Entrance Test (CET) in Engineering stream. Kiran C. Yelsangi hailing from Gulbarga secured 12th rank in the CET in Engineering stream. The two are awaiting the results of the Join Entrance Examination for the IIT. Sharath Ibrahimpur has developed special interest in Mathematics. In the SSLC examinations, Sharath scored 88.8 per cent, but in Mathematics he scored 100 out of 100 and similarly in the PUC examinations his overall pass percentage was 91 but in Mathematics he scored 100 out of 100. In the CET, he scored 59 out of 60 in Mathematics and his ranking would have been much better if he had scored better marks in Physics where he scored 54 out of 60. Similarly, Kiran C Yelsangi has special love for Mathematics. In SSLC, he got 100 out of 100 and in PUC 99 out of 100 in Mathematics. Both Sharath and Kiran were awarded the National Talent Search Examination scholarship of Rs. 6,000 every year for two years during their PUC and have participated in several competitive examinations and brought laurels to the school and the region. Sharath narrowly missed the chance for participating in the International Astronomy Olympiad two years ago after passing the State and national-level astronomy Olympiads with flying colours. He was one of the 45 students from India to attend the national-level camp of Astronomy Olympiad. Nine students were selected for the International Astronomy Olympiad. Besides this, he had participated in the Regional Mathematics Olympiad in 2006-07 and appeared in the National Mathematics Olympiad. His elder sister is pursuing her engineering course in Electronics and another younger sister Sanjana is a bright student in IX standard. Kiran, who had finished second in the Science Olympiad two years ago, had participated in the national-level Science Olympiad and finished 64th in the country.
